Copper Slag Manufacturer in India

Copper slag is a by-product of the copper production process. The world copper industry produces about 24.6 million tons of slag. Most of the copper slag produced is used in the roasting industry and in the manufacture of abrasive equipment, with the remainder being disposed of without reuse or recycling.

Copper slag also have pozzolanic properties, as they can have carburizing properties with low CaO activation and high CaO or low NaOH activation. There are several mechanical and chemical properties that support the use of copper slag in concrete as a partial replacement for Portland cement or a substitute material.

For example, copper slag has various mechanical properties for use as aggregates, such as good strength properties, good wear resistance and good stability. The use of copper slag as a substitute for cement and/or fines in the concrete industry has the advantages of lower processing costs and less environmental pollution.

Copper Slag

A copper slag is a substance that is recovered during the copper slag process. Once the copper settles in the foundry, it condenses leaving impurities in the upper layer and passes into a container of cold water to solidify. The final product is a hard solid material that is fed to a crusher for further processing. Copper slag product is one of the materials most likely to replace natural fine aggregates in concrete. Around 2.2 ton of copper slag is produced per ton of copper mined. Littering a lot of trash is a huge headache.

From a sustainable production perspective, this study aimed to investigate the possibility of incorporating copper slag into concrete instead of natural fine aggregates. Due to its excellent mechanical and physical properties, copper slag is a potential source of small aggregates.

Features of Copper Slag

  • High cleaning speed,
  • Low dust level,
  • Surface Finishing
  • Recyclable &
  • Low abrasive consumption

Copper Slag Processing

At the start of the process, a heavy operator moves the raw copper slag into the hopper and feeds the material onto a conveyor belt in a propane dryer. After drying, the copper slag is transported along a conveyor belt to a closed filter housing. The housing consists of a series of sieves that allow finer material to pass through the sieve until the desired particle size is reached.

The operator (factory worker) collects the finished granular product from the garnet abrasive and ensures that the correct particle size is achieved and that the sieve operates correctly. They are packed in super bags (large industrial bags) or stored in silos until they require bulk delivery by truck or trolley.

Applications of Copper Slag:

Abrasive Blasting

Slag is a by-product of smelting copper extraction. During casting, the impurities become slag that floats on top of the molten metal. Abrasive blasting can be used in concrete production as a partial replacement for sand. Copper slag quenched in water forms angular granules.

The use of this slag minimizes the use of raw materials and reduces the depth of construction, which in turn reduces the energy demand on the building.

Grit Blasting

Copper slag is mainly used for blasting surfaces. Copper slag blasting is used to clean and shape the surface of metal, stone, concrete and other materials. In this process, a stream of abrasive grains called sand is pushed onto the work piece. Copper slag is one of many different materials that can be used as abrasive sand.

The grit sand blasting, the amount of dust generated and the quality of the surface finish are some of the variables affected by the choice of sand material. The described media are manufactured in accordance with ISO products.

The product complies with strict sanitary and ecological standards. Grit slag blasting media made from slag causes less harm to people and the environment than sand.
