Air Breather

An breather is used as a safety device that supplies clean air to the blast hood to protect the operator during the blast process. Breathable air helps remove oil, water vapor and dirt particles larger than 0.5 microns from the air breather. The breather ensures the operator's safety by not coming into contact with anything potentially harmful to him. The air breather usually comes with sand blasting safety suit, sand blasting helmet and safety gloves.

It provides operators with deep breathing air. The characteristic of a great, deeply breathable air is that, to some degree, it must be free of particles of oil or dirt. Also it should contain minimum amount of water vapor and carbon monoxide. The air breather supplies air free of water and contaminants to a single operator as well as multiple operators.

There are a few ways in which safety can be ensured when wearing an air breather. As if:

  • Properly monitor a breather and remove the air supply.
  • Use a compressor that does not rely on oil for operation, which means it must be free of contaminants within the overhead blast line and that does not expose operators to carbon monoxide.

Carbon monoxide is an odorless and tasteless gas. Exposure to operator can have harmful effects on consciousness and body.

Main Parts of Air Breather

  • Filter Cartridge: The filter cartridge helps remove all oil, dirt particles or contaminants from the compressed air before it reaches the operators. Filter cartridges contain activated carbon or activated carbon and glass wool that absorb all impurities from the air to allow only pure, clean air to flow through and reach operators. A mesh is placed at the top of the filter cartridge so that the filtered air enters. It is very important to replace the filter cartridge from time to time, otherwise exposure to the smell and taste of contaminants may occur. Also, high pressure loss can occur in systems with compressors.
  • Air Regulator: The air regulator helps in controlling the flow of air in the air vent.
  • Drain valve: The drain valve is mainly used to remove moisture and oil, so the life of the filter can be extended. When the filter is in a humid climate, or there is high humidity or oil enters with compressed air, it is necessary to drain the filter reservoir.
  • Filter foot: The entire body of the air breather is mounted on the filter foot. It bears the load of the entire device.
  • Inlet Coupling: The inlet coupling is connected to the compressor through which the compressed air enters the air vent.
  • Output Coupling: The output coupling is connected to the AC. Give clean air to the air conditioner for operators.
  • Filter body: The filter body contains all the components of the air breather.
  • Filter cover: The filter cover is located at the top of the air vent. There is an outlet coupling on the filter cover and a handle on it.
  • Handle: The handle makes it convenient to carry the air breather anywhere.
  • O-rings, rubber: O-rings are used to prevent leakage of compressed air. It also prevents air leakage and pressure loss.

Working of Air Breather

The function of the air vent is very simple. It works on the same principle as any other air filter. When the compressed air from the compressor enters through the inlet fitting, it contains some moisture that is removed by the vortexing of the air inside the filter box. The filter cartridge contains glass wool that helps remove dirt particles. Additionally, activated charcoal and charcoal help absorb oil or moisture and eliminate odors that are harmful to operators. The glass wool then removes more contaminants and then the clean air passes through the outlet coupling to the operators. All required activated carbon or charcoal and glass wool are housed in an anti-corrosion box.

Air breathers can supply this clean air to one or more operators at a time.

Air Breather Connection

In an air breather, the hose is connected to the compressor at the filter inlet. The air line breather hose is connected to the filter outlet tube. The filter should not be connected directly to or near the compressor outlet tank. All these connections must be properly tightened so that there is no leakage or loss of pressure.

Features of Air Breather

  • Compact in size
  • Air breather to regulate proper air flow
  • Drain valve to remove moisture and oil
  • Handle to take anywhere

Precautions While Using an Air Breather

  • When wearing a helmet during sand blasting, do not connect the air breather to any air source if there is no supply of air breather.
  • The air breather must be connected to a compressed air system that supplies enough compressed air as needed.

Do not start the blast operation without checking all connections.

FAQ

Ans.

Sand blasting is the activity of coercively impelling a surge of abrasive material against a surface constrained to smooth an unpleasant surface, roughen a smooth surface and shape a surface, or eliminate the surface pollutants. Sand used to be the most usually utilized material, however since the lung infection silicosis is brought about by broadened inward breath of the residue made by sand, different materials are currently utilized in their place.

Ans.

Sand blasting and shot blasting both are the cycle which is being used in mechanical surface cleaning. Many industries that utilization metal applies these techniques in everyday rehearses for eliminating consumption, paint, and different movies and setting up the surface for covering. In the two techniques, cast ironwork is additionally impacted to eliminate old paint layers. In any case, the contrasts between the two cycles are just for rule and application types.

Ans.

The main purpose behind sand blasting is to eliminate paint or rust and other surface-toxins from hardware, vehicles, houses, and practically some other surface. In the interim, it is a surface treatment measure broadly utilized in a wide range of enterprises for different purposes.

Ans.

To remove paint or rust from the surface Sand blasting is highly recommend. This cycle is coercively impelling a surge of grating material against a surface constrained to smooth or unpleasant the surface. Sand blasting can prompt the paint to look lopsided when it fixes and bubbles once the task gets wrapped up.

Ans.

The sandblaster works to clean and scrape a surface, regularly metal, of any rust, paint, or other undesirable surface materials. In this innovation, the hose associates with the air tank, and the hopper is loaded up with a grating to guarantee the best outcomes with no obstacles.
